If some sections of the national media are to be believed, Kamal Haasan is going to make a formal announcement regarding his political plans around Vijaya Dasami. This has nothing to do with the festival's auspiciousness. Kamal is an agnostic.

Some opinion-makers have it that we shouldn't be surprised if Kamal forms a party of his own. Others are of the view that he wouldn't be that foolhardy, given his financial status.

Kamal wants to influence voting patterns in the upcoming local polls in Tamil Nadu scheduled to be held in November. It will be easy for him to do that, not because people have found a great leader in him, but because of the state of affairs in the State after J Jayalalithaa's death last December.

The anti-saffron actor will possibly align with the Left-leaning outfits.
