Musicians, music lovers and the general public were elated at the news of Chennai being recognised as one of the UNESCO’s Crestive Cities Network for music. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the achievement praising Chennai’s musical tradition.

Now, Kamal Hassan has expressed his feelings about this significant honor for Chennai. Stating that this is a well deserved recognition for Chennai owing to its musical contribution, the actor also opined that there is more satisfaction is knowing that people of other culture appreciate Tamil music as well.

However Kamal also stated that the recognition was long overdue from the UNESCO. “We prefer praise from others. Our honorable PM recognising it affirms our hope that south will not diminish inspite of its detractors,” the actor said.
