A day after Kamal Haasan said on Twitter that he has always avoided the sacred thread (that people of some castes, especially Brahmins, wear), the actor has come in for sharp criticism.

A couple of Brahmin outfits in Tamil Nadu have reportedly said that the 'Vishwaroopam-2' actor believes in "cheap publicity to garner votes".  While there is this talk that Kamal has alienated sections of Brahmins by saying that the thread affected him, even those sections of non-Brahmins who wear the thread have not received his comments well, Twitterverse say.  

Meanwhile, an old pic of Kamal is doing the rounds.  In this pic, the actor is seen wearing a sacred thread while marrying Vani Ganapathy, his first wife.  The authenticity of this pic couldn't be verified by us.  This pic, if true, shows the Makkal Needhi Maiam actor's "dishonesty" and "hypocrisy", his critics say.
