It has become a trend that film stars helping the needy in some way or the other. While many stars involve themselves in such noble deeds as part of their birthday celebrations, a few of them prefer to do service to the poor on a regular basis.

Kamal Haasan, one of the pioneers in such acts, is organizing various kinds of social service activities through out the year. Since the examinations are nearing, the distinguished actor has decided to help students to write the examinations well.

Kamal Haasan Narpani Iyakkam (welfare movement named after the actor) has planned to donate essential stationary items (exam pad, pen, pencil, eraser, sharpener, and scale) for around 30000 students, (6th – 8th standard) all over the state.

1000 students from each district will be benefited by this scheme, which would cost Rs. 8 lakhs, informs Gunaseelan, executive of the Narpani Iyakkam.

The scheme was inaugurated by Kamal on March 2 in his Rajkamal Films office in Chennai. Sridharan, who received Tamil Nadu government’s award for best teacher, and Dr. Raghupathy participated in the function.

The executives of the welfare movement in various places all over Tamil Nadu are making arrangements to organize similar functions in all the districts soon.
