The recent demise of Raghu, a software engineer whose two-wheeler hit on a wooden arch erected for a banner for MGR Centeneary celebrations in Coimbatore has put the state in shock. While tragic incident received condemnation from all corners, Kamal Hassan also has opined regarding the issue.

Kamal stated that a government would come crumbling down if it only cared for money and fame instead of the common man’s life. The actor also brought out an analogy between pedestrians and the government riding on palanquins to impress the message strongly. The actor also went a step further by saying those who are irresponsible enough to let these things happen are accomplices to murder.

It is the sincere hope of many that the government take strict adherence to rules and regulations pertaining to banner culture that would ensure the safety of lives.
