Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam party is ready with the alliance of the DMK for the Lok Sabha elections. Sources from the party give information that it may get one seat from the DMK alliance. It was believed that Kamal might enter the fray himself, although now he has made it very clear that he will not contest the Lok Sabha election.
Recently, DMK and MNM have entered into a secret pact. As per the pact, DMK will extend full support to the DMK alliance, whereas Makkal Neeti Mayyam Party will be extended with one constituency from the DMK alliance itself during the Rajya Sabha elections in 2025.
Other major details in the presence of the leaders of both parties included signing the agreement, which was signed by DMK leader M.K. Stalin and MNM Party leader Kamal Haasan. They have also declared that the campaign activities for the 2024 elections in all parliamentary constituencies of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will be done together. The party also decided to offer an identical seat to Makkal Needhi Maiam for the 2025 Rajya Sabha election.
Reciprocating in the same kind—with this kind of understanding in place, Kamal Hassan will step back from contesting in the Lok Sabha elections and, as per the norm, is all set to become an MP by next year’s Rajya Sabha elections.
