Urvashi her youngest sister has stated that Kalpana was instrumental in building her career as she passed on many roles that came to her. According to Urvashi even for her Tamil debut Munthanai Mudichi` K. Bhagyaraj had approached Kalpana. It is a strange coincidence that the fifty year old Kalpana died on the 47th birthday of Urvashi.
