In Puducherry, a 9-year-old girl was raped and murdered a few days ago by six youngsters. The body was found in a drain near the girl's home in Sholai Nagar. This news took the entire nation in shock. The suspects were said to be under the influence of marijuana during the incident.

Makkal Needhi Maiam leader Kamal Haasan and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay put out a statement regarding this issue today. Kamal's statement says that we are heading to a pathetic state as a society which is filled with drug usage, sexual abuse and honour killings. He condemned these things and urged the government to take necessary action.

Both the leaders' statements are going viral now. Meanwhile, Thalapathy Vijay's statement says, "The murder of a 9-year-old girl from Muthialpet, Puducherry due to sexual harassment is heartbreaking.

It is with a heavy heart that I am obliged to offer my condolences to the parents of the brave girl who have lost their daughter.

On behalf of the Tamil Nadu Vetri Kazhagam, I request the Puducherry government to take appropriate action to provide maximum punishment to the killers who brutally and mercilessly murdered the girl.
