Actor Suriya had recently been in news for his speech in a recent event of his Agaram foundation, where he had put forth a lot of questions on the draft National Education policy, and had also urged people to start discussions and raise questions on the policy as it is concerned with their children.

While Suriya's sensible speech had received support from many people, and even educationalists, the actor's views had been opposed by several political party members as well, including H Raja and Tamilisai Soundararajan of BJP who were criticizing Suriya's speech.

Now, actor and Makkal Needhi Maiyam president Kamal Haasan has given his support to Suriya, as he had posted a note on Twitter, where he had said that Suriya and his family have been working on the education of poor children for a long time and Suriya has the right to speak on education, adding that he supports many of the points mentioned by Suriya on National education policy. Kamal has also condemned the ruling party speaking ill of Suriya for expressing his opinion, and said his brother Suriya will always have his support.
