In the recently held Lok Sabha elections and the 18 constituency bye elections, Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan's political party Makkal Needhi Maiam had contested without forming alliance with any major parties like ADMK or DMK, and Kamal had made statements equally against both the parties.

In such a situation, Kamal Haasan has now voiced out in support of an action taken by DMK. Following the complaint given by ADMK member Rajendran that ADMK MLAs Rathina Sabpathy. Prabhu and Kalaiselvan are holding positions in AMMK Party, speaker Dhanapal had sent notice to them.

However, opposing the move of the assembly speaker to send notice to the three MLAs, DMK party has decided to pass a no confidence motion against speaker Dhanapal, and in an unexpected turn of events, aligning with DMK, MNM leader Kamal Haasan has extended his support to the no confidence motion.
