The coronavirus is spreading at a rate of 500 per day in Tamil Nadu with the total number of patients in the state touching 5409 with half that number in Chennai alone. The TN government while emphasizing on social distancing and restricted lockdown contradicted itself by reopening the TASMAC wine shops in all over the state except the capital city.
Kamal Haasan has shot an angry and lengthy letter in which he has minced no words in accusing the ruling government of exploiting the people through opening the wine shops capitalizing on the coronavirus pandemic. He has stated that ADMK and the DMK are part and parcel of the game in benefiting through the business as it is well known that the former ruling party members own distilleries.
Kamal further warned the government that COVID 19 has the potential to spread through TASMAC clusters and the death toll would be much more than the one from the Tsunami that hit the state in 2004 claiming more than 8000 lives. In the epilogue of the letter Kamal has predicted that if the government rethinks and acts in shutting TASMAC immediately it would lose the elections more gracefully.
