An online conference conducted by the Centre for doctors has created a controversy after the union AYUSH secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha said he will not speak in English and told people who don't understand Hindi to leave the conference.
Thirty seven government hospital doctors from Tamil Nadu were a part of this conference which involved 300 participants. This event was organised by Ministry of AYUSH and Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga for Master Trainers of Yoga. It has been said that most of the sessions were held in Hindi and the AYUSH secretary, during his speech in Hindi, said people who raised the language issue can leave, adding that he doesn't speak English well.
Condemning this behaviour by the Ayush secretary, Makkal Needhi Maiam president Kamal Haasan has tweeted that it was the humility of Tamil doctors that they didn't question Ayush officers on how they'll understand the medicine of Tamil Nadu without knowing Tamil, and added that it was the responsibility of the government to operate in a language everyone understands, and strongly reiterated that this is not a Hindi government but Indian government.
