The Tamil Nadu Political arena is getting ready to face a large round of By-elections after the High Court's recent verdict on disqualification of 18 MLAs belonging to the TTV Dinakaran camp. Elections are expected to be conducted in these 18 constituencies as well as the Thiruvaroor and Thirpparangundram constituencies left vacant by the death of former DMK president M.Karunanidhi and AIADMK MLA A.K.Bose.

Apart from the ruling AIADMK, AMMK lead by DInakaran and the opposition party DMK people especially the youngsters badly expect a change and they want new leaders to take charge by contesting elections. While a few other actors have also expressed their interest to take part in electoral politics only Kamal Haasan has officially registered his political party Makkal Needhi Maiam and has been attending many public events to win the credibility of voters. So the question of whether his party will contest these 20 MLA seats is inevitable.

And Kamal has now answered this question. The MNM party President has said that his party will contest in the by-elections for the 20 consistences. He also said that MNM party has been launched to bring a positive change in politics and not to merely enjoy the benefits of being in power and hence his party has decided to contest the by-elections itself.
