Kamal Haasan is a true follower of Gandhian principles and he has glorified the Mahatma in many of his films, including 'Hey Ram' which revolves around a ploy to kill Gandhi and also in public speeches.
The Ulaganayagan has always enthusiastically participated in book release functions and he is probably one of the very few film personalities who are so connected with books and writes. On Sunday he went all the way to Coimbatore to for the release of a Tamil book 'Sathiya Sodhanai' about Mahthma Gandhi. The book has been written by noted Tamil writer Andal Priyadarshini and published by Sapna Book House.
After releasing the book Kamal spoke about the Bapuki. He said his respect for Gandhi increased a lot after making the film 'Hey Ram'.
"A leader should not consider his post as a crown and he should consider it as a slipper. Gandhi has always been a ground-level worker and that's how he could be as a role model for every Indian and become a citizen of the world.
Not everyone can take up the ideology of non-violence. Only after completely understanding about it, Gandhi could take it up as his way of life. Very few people have a complete understanding about Gandhi, but many of us keep speaking about him. Many people invoke him only for getting votes and posts. Gandhi is beyond politics but here, his name is used only for political gains."
