In the Big Boss reality show hosted by Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, one of the contestants Gayathri Raghuram is being staunchly criticized by people for a particular comment she made about her co-contestant Oviya. She had used the word 'Cheri behavior" which Many people see it as a castigate slur and pressed for legal action against the actress cum dance choreographer for uttering such words.

When Kamal Haasan met the Press on Wednesday he was asked whether he will apologize for the comments made by a contestant in the show he has been hosting. Kamal said "I would have apologised if I had written the screenplay and dialogues for what Gayathri should speak in the show. How can we censor that? We hear of lot of filthy and unparlimentary words spoken by many people everyday. Can we stop that."

it was also alleged that the contestants insulted the Tamizh Thai Vazthu' by singing it with the wrong pronunciation. For this the host said "No one insulted Tamizh Thai Vazthu. It was taught to those who don't know it. Half of the contestants don't know how to speak Tamil. Nambiar Annan will speak Tamil with a slight Malayalam accent. Ghantasala's Tamil songs will have a slight Telugu accent. This is the nation. 'Jana Gana Mana' is a Bengali song. Can you sing it without any mistake while learning it? If you do a mistake while it is being taught to you,.that would not mean your are insulting the national anthem."
