Kamal Haasan 's 55th birthday

Eenadu-star Kamal Haasan is celebrating his 55th birthday on the 7th. An ever-green star known for his diversified roles, the Tamil film legend has not tired of experimenting even after decades of his entry into cinema.

The Universal Hero's recent film Eenadu (Unnaipol Oruvan in Tamil) which sees him play a common man outraged at the phenomenon of terrorism, who adds an intellectual dimension to Naseeruddin Shah's original version. As the new generation stars in Kollywood - Vijay, Ajith, Vikram and Suriya, continue to make their head way, the undying charm of Kamal still holds the imagination of cinegoers in Tamil Nadu.

More popular than any Tamil star in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka (with the sole exception of Superstar Rajinikanth), the openings his films get in these states amuses trade pundits every time (his Dasavatharam saw great theatrical release throughout the Telugu state).

At 55, Kamal's enthusiasm to make world-class cinema has only strengthened. Though one of his dream projects has been shelved recently, he has bounced back with yet another idea. A film based on the legend around Buddha's tooth has brought him back in news. Also, he is directing K. Balachandar, his mentor-guide in one of his next.
