In his interview to the Tamil section of a London based Media House, Ulaganayagan `Kamal Haasan has shared his memories of shooting a scene for his ambitious flick Marudhanayagam` in front of the British Queen Elizabeth II.

The interview was to honor the queen for decorating the throne for 63 long years.

Queen Elizabeth was the chief guest of the grand launch function of the mega budget period flick Marudhanaygam`, held in 1997. In his interview Kamal recalled what was shot during the first day in front of the queen.

"Marudhanayagam (Mohammed Yusuf Khan) pioneered the struggle for Indian Independence 100 years before the Sepoy Mutiny considered as the First War of Indian Independence. Our failure to acknowledge his contributions is an injustice meted out to the struggle itself. He was hanged by the British Empire on the 13th of October 1764 and incidentally the Queen was present almost on the same date to preside over the launch of Marudhanayagam`. We shot the long speech of Marudhanayagam seeking independence for India from the British rule on that day. The translation of that speech was given to the Queen. As a person who has understood the changing times and the progression of mankind, the queen listened to this patiently with a broad mind."
