After 16 Years, Kamal reveals interesting secrets about Hey Ram

Kamal Haasan known for his creative contribution to enhance the script of the films he acts made his directorial debut with the maverick period flick 'Hey Ram' which released 16 years ago on February 18, the date which passed yesterday.

'Hey Ram' a period flick based on a fictional account with a person affected by the violence led by the India-Pakistan Partition, who ventures out to kill Mahatma Gandhi but later reforms after realizing the Bapuji's relevance and importance in a multi-religious country like India.

The film made on a grand scale was critically acclaimed for its deft handling of the subject and brilliant making. Despite the film turning out to be a box office disaster it is steal being celebrated by a large section of film enthusiasts as one of the Best films to have emerged from India.

Kamal being active in Twitter has resulted in the much loved star sharing some interesting secrets about the film with his fans on the special day.

In a series of tweets Kamal has revealed that an actor named Mohan Ghokle initially acted in the Sriram Abhyankar character who brainwashes the protagonist join a hardcore Hindu outfit that plans to kill Gandhi. He passed away after 90% of his work was completed and then Kamal had to re-shoot the scenes by replacing Atul Kulkarni.

The 'Ulaga Nayagan' has assured that he will one day showcase Ghokle's performance in that remarkable character, to the audience.

Kamal also had words of praise about the musical score of the film by Isaignani Ilaiyaraja. He has said that Raja rescued the music of 'Hey Ram' from the wrong hands.

For beginners, Kamal had revealed in his earlier interviews that the initial choice for 'Hey Ram' music was someone else (name retained as secret) and he had to be replaced after scoring music for the predominant part of the film as his work was not satisfactory.
