Kamal Haasan's Makkal Neethi Maiam earlier this morning filed a petition in the Madras High Court seeking the closure of the government's TASMAC liquor shops which were a threat of an explosion in the COVID 19 spread as social distancing was barely followed in the two days of opening. The court gave a favorable order asking the TN government to immediately close down the liquor shops and instead opt for online sales and home delivery.

Kamal Haasan has taken to Twitter to write in Tamil "This court order is the people's victory and justice has been served and the trust on the judiciary has been reinforced. My intention has won is what the whole of Tamil Nadu should celebrate and this is the victory of the voices of Tamil women."
