After the passing away of ADMK leader and former chief minister J. Jayalalitha and old age rendering Kalaigniar Karunanidhi inactive has opened the doors to more than a handful of Kollywood celebrities to try their hands in politics.  The two most formidable forces are ofcourse Supestar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan who like their distinguished film careers as arch rivals are carrying that on to public life also.

In spite of their four decades old proffessional rivalry Rajini and Kamal have been the best of personal friends and are a living example of comraderie.  However in his most recent interview to a leading English weekly, Kamal has stated that politics has indeed split them.  The Makkal Needhi Maiam leader has asserted that he has no caste, religion or creed and believes in a middle ground mindset obviously referrfing to Rajini's Spiritual politics.  The 'Indian 2' hero also points out that he was never interested in Rajini kind of roles in cinema and vice versa and has all but confirmed that the long time friends are indeed poles apart as far as politics is concerned atleast.
