Kantara starring Rishab Shetty is one of the most talked about films this year. After megastars like Rajnikanth heaped praise on the film, Kamal Haasan too went ahead to applaud the film.

Kamal Haasan finally watched Kantara on November 18, Friday. The veteran actor is said to be highly impressed with the Rishab Shetty directorial, especially it's making. The reports suggest that Kamal Haasan personally called the young filmmaker and heaped praises on the film and called it highly appealing. The Indian 2 actor also stated that this kind of filmmaking is highly inspiring, to the excitement of actor-director Rishab Shetty and the makers of Kantara.

Talking about the film Rishab Shetty said in an interview, “Kantara starts in the 18th century and moves to the 19th century. It is like folklore, which is passed on from generation to generation. I wanted to tell this story via folklore. I feel Indian sentiments resonate well in the country; hence rooted stories work well. To watch a dance number, or fight, there are a lot of platforms with similar stories. There is nothing new in that. There is an audience for commercial films with mass elements and entertainment but there is an override of that now. Today, people want rooted stories. People relate to it, their upbringing and till the time that connects, more stories like Kantara will work.”

Kantara revolves around a regional ritual dance form named Bhoota Kola. Rishab Shetty played the central character Kaadubettu Shiva and his father in the movie. The film also stars, Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty, Prakash Tuminad, Naveen D Padil, and others in the pivotal roles.
