Kamal Haasan one of the greatest actors ever in Indian cinema had a long break since his 'Vishwaroopam 2' released in 2018 the major portion of which was shot much earlier. The thespian however made one of the strongest comebacks ever in hiistory with his 'Vikram' which grossed over rupees four hundred and fifty crores at the box office.
'Vikram' directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Kamal himself had music by Anirudh with Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil also in leading roles. With a huge boost of energy the Ulaganayagan is currently hosting 'Bigg Boss Tamil 6' and also shooting the remaining portions of 'Indian 2' directed by Shankar.
Before the release of 'Vikram' it was widely reported that Kamal planned to star in a new movie directed by Malayalam filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan. The subject was said to be an extension of Kamal's 'Devar Magan' starring the great Sivaji Ganesan. Latest reports suggest that the project has been dropped due to other big commitments.
It has already been announced that the unparalleled actor's new film 'KH234' will be directed by Mani Ratnam and produced by Red Giant Movies alongwith Madras Talkies and RKFI. The strong speculation is that 'Thunivu' director H. Vinoth will be helming 'KH233' in all probability. Kamal has okayed scripts by Pa. Ranjith and Vetrimaaran making his calendar full for at least the next three years.
Hence it is logical that 'Devar Magan 2' or 'Thalaivan Irukkiran' which was supposed to be directed by Mahesh Narayanan has been put on the backburner. However Kamal may revive it in the future if he finds the right gap because it is a pet project for him according to sources close to him.
