It is a well known fact that Kamal Haasan started off as a hero in Malayalam films and continued to hone his skills collaborating with many legends in close to 40 films before becoming one of the pillars of Tamil Cinema.

There have been reports for some time that the Ulaganayagan will return to Malayalam cinema and now it seems that he has given his nod to multiple award winning director Shaji N Karun`s ambitious film Gaadha`, based on a short story Kadal` by celebrated Malayalam writer T. Padmanabhan. The Malayalam/Hindi bilingual will have music fusion of Indian classical and symphony scored by Polish legend Zbigniew Preisner. Superstar Mohanlal was the first choice to play the lead role but he opted out in September and Kamal is on board for this prestigious project.
