Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan has been extremely busy with his political party Makkal Needhi Maiam related activities, as he had recently been allotted Battery torch as the symbol for the forthcoming elections by the election commission of India. Following this, the actor has begun his next task.

The party had invited applications for contesting as MNM candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, and including non members of MNM, more than 1300 applications were received, and Kamal Haasan and his team including actress Kovai Sarala, Cartoonist Madhan, General Secretary Arunachalam and selection panel head Doctor Mahendran, have started interviewing the applicants.

With basis questions regarding the social activities the applicants have did in their constituencies and the strategies, the MNM team will reportedly shortlist to 3 persons per constituency and visit each constituency to interact with people and based on public feedback finalize one among the three candidates. The best candidates will be fielded with the help of public feedback, said Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan.
