Way back in 1997, Kamal Haasan announced Marudhanayagam` the, then costliest project in Indian cinema history budgeted at 100 Crores. The film was launched by Queen Elizabeth with Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth and major Kollywood, Bollywood and other industry celebrities in attendance.
Kamal Haasan directed Marudhanayagam` with himself, Sathyaraj, Pasupathy and Nassar in important roles and 40 percent was complete, but unfortunately the film got shelved due to lack of funds. Earlier this year Ayngaran International published a digital poster of the film on their social media pages signaling that talks are on for the revival of the ambitious project. Kamal who visited UK a few days back met with Subash Karan the owner of Lyca Productions and sources swear that the number of shooting days and budget were discussed.
It may be noted that Lyca Productions are bankrolling the costliest Indian film 2.0` starring Superstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar with a budget of 400 Crores and when Marudhayanagam` goes on floors it will then become the highest budgeted film at 450 Crores. Official confirmation is expected in early 2017.
