The election commission has allotted the battery operated Torch Light symbol to Kamal Haasan's Makkal Neethi Maiam party. A happy Kamal has stated "MNM thanks the Election commision for granting us the "Battery Torch" symbol for the forthcoming elections. So appropriate. @maiamofficial will endeavour to be the “Torch-Bearer” for a new era in TN and Indian politics."

There is a strange coincidence between Kamal's political life and Karthi's 'Saguni' movie which released in the year 2012. In that film Karthi's character name is Kamal and he would back Kota Srinivasa Rao in the assembly elections and they contest under the Torch Light symbol and win to become the ruling party.

Netizens are pointing to the co-incidence and are stating that its a good omen for Kamal Haasan and that he too would become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. We however have to wait for another couple of years to see if that becomes a reality.
