Actor-Politician Kamal Haasan announced on Thursday that his party Makkal Needhi Maiam is preparing to contest in all the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu and one in Puducherry on its own in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
“We are trying to serve good for the people with clean hands. We are trying to keep our hands clean by not allying with any of the Dravidian parties. Our aim is to not go with any tainted group. We are preparing to contest on all 40 seats. I cannot say at this moment from where I will contest,” the actor reportedly said.
Kamal Haasan had earlier said that his party was willing to form a single-minded alliance in the parliamentary elections. He added that he would not associate with parties that wanted to change Tamil Nadu’s DNA, apparently indicating BJP. He has accused the ruling party AIADMK of corruption in the past as well.
The veteran actor launched his party Makkal Needhi Maiam (People’s Justice Centre) in February last year.
