Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan made a historic comeback to cinema with the mammoth blockbuster hit ‘Vikram’ after a hiatus of four years. In the meantime had established his political party Makkal Needhi Maiam. His naysayers opined that he will soon dissolve the party after suffering heavy losses in the elections gone by. However the legendary actor is balancing his cinema and politics like no other.
On Sunday after an important meeting with his party functionaries, Kamal announced that he will be joining Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra to promote unity among people and to uphold democracy. The peace march on foot kickstarted in Kanyakumari on September 7th and will end at Srinagar in J &K. Kamal accepting his invitatin will join Rahul in the march on December 24th at New Delhi.
Political analysts see this as a strategic move by Kamal Haasan to cement a strong bonding with the Congress for future alliance. It is whispered that the DMK may not allot too many seats to the National party in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections and if Rahul Gandhi decides to make it alone small parties like MNM may join a coalition to fight the elections.
On the entertainment front Kamal is currently hosting ‘Bigg Boss Tamil 6’ which will have its grand finale in late January. He is currently shooting for Shankar’s ‘Indian 2’ after which he is expected to star in a film by H. Vinoth and ‘KH234’ directed by Mani Ratnam.
