Kamal Haasan loses Coimbatore South after giving tough fight

The Makkal Needhi Maiam leader Kamal Haasan has lost his maiden election by a margin of 1500 votes and the BJP leader Vanathi Srinivasan has won the Coimbatore South constituency.  Right from this morning, Kamal was the only candidate from his party to show a major lead while his opponents from there were a seesaw of fortunes for his opponents  Mayura Jayakumar of the Congress and Vanathi  Srinivasan who were also taking the lead at various times.

The MNM which garnered 4 percent votes share during the Parliamentary elections fared relatively poorly in the fight for the state with Seeman’s Naam Thamizhar Katchi coming third after the two major parties the DMK and the ADMK.

Kamal who floated his party in 2018 has no doubt made significant strides in politics and has taken on the major national and regional players according to analysts.  His hardcore fans are actually celebrating on social media in the hope that they will get to watch him more on the silver screen.
