Is Vijay Sethupathi's role in Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Vikram' related to the 1986 'Vikram'?

The hype is literally sky high for Kamal Haasan starrer 'Vikram', which is just a couple of days away from release. The high octane multistarrer, with music by Anirudh, will storm the screens on June 3. Yesterday, we updated you about Fahad Faasil's role in the film, now Vijay Sethupathi's role is revealed.

Vijay Sethupathi will be seen as 'Santhanam', a ruthless gangster with a golden tooth. The makers revealed a special poster for his character and wrote, Evil is coming (sic). While VJS plays the powerful villain role, Fahadh will play officer Amar and Kamal will play a veteran government agent Commander AK Vikram, as we reported earlier.

We already reported to you that Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Vikram' is a spin-off to Kamal Haasan's old film 'Vikram' (1986). Sathyaraj played the villain Sugirtharaj in the old film. Now, Vijay Sethupathi's villain look from the upcoming 'Vikram' is reminiscent of Sathyaraj's look from 1986 'Vikram' as they both wear the same type of glasses with the lens on only one side.

Kamal is also reprising his role from 1986 'Vikram'. The team has already made it official that Suriya is essaying a crucial cameo role at the end of 'Vikram'. Meanwhile, the fans are eagerly waiting for a special poster based on Suriya's character. The character reveal posters featuring Kamal and Suriya are expected in the upcoming days.

'Vikram', also starring Narain, Kalidas Jayaram, Santhana Bharathi, Chemban Vinod, Arjun Das, Swathistha Krishnan, VJ Mynaa and Shivani, is releasing in five languages: Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. Girish Gangadharan has handled the cinematography while Philomin Raj takes care of the editing.
