Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan has been an active politician as well from last year, as it has been an year since he had launched his own political party Makkal Needhi Maiam. Launched on February 21 in 2018, the party had not set foot in Pondicherry, and today, the actor and politician officially launched his party in Pondicherry.
Speaking in an event in a school in Cuddalore, Kamal Haasan said, "Ahimsa is the pinnacle of bravery, and Makkal Needhi Maiam has not been run with the help of goons or anti socials, and is working with non violence as its principle. Not just goons, even the usual politicians won't find a place in MNM".
"In a limited time, Makkal Needhi Maiam will create a revolution, and we are collecting funds from people only on a clean, transparent manner, as it is not wrong for a father to get money from his son. Don't lookout for Gandhiji in the parliament, we can find Gandhiji only outside parliament. A Kakkan or a Kamaraj cannot be identified in North India" added Kamal Haasan. After the launch in Pondicherry, MNM which was earlier announced to contest in 39 constituencies, will now contest in 40 constituencies in the upcoming elections.
