Kamal Haasan's comments that Nathuram Godse was the first terrorist of free India and he was a Hindu, have not gone down well with the BJP. The saffron party has slammed the Makkal Needhi Maiam actor.
A BJP leader today wrote a letter to the Election Commission, urging the body to ban the actor-politician from campaigning for five days. The letter says that Kamal is "promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion".
Kamal's remarks have led to a polarized debate on social media. Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi has asked the 'Indian-2' actor if he has made the comments only with the intention of winning Muslim votes. The actor-turned-politician is no stranger to such controversies. Back in 2017, he wrote in a Tamil magazine that there is rampant Hindu extremism.
