The movie lovers, fans and audiences are eagerly waiting to witness Kamal Haasan's 'Vikram', which is one of the most anticipated films in the Tamil cinema. The high octane thriller, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Fahad Faasil.
The hype grew larger when the powerhouse actor Suriya was roped in to play a brief cameo role in 'Vikram'. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj confirmed Suriya's presence in the Vikram audio launch and also on social media. Kamal, who also thanked Suriya during the audio launch, has now spilled beans about Suriya's role in the movie in a recent interview.
In his interview with Film Companion, when quizzed about Suriya's presence in the film, Kamal said, "It's no more a rumour. Suriya has played an incredible last-minute appearance in 'Vikram', that (role) should take the story a little further... probably into part 3." Fans are wondering if Kamal is hinting about part 3, then 'Vikram' might be the part 2 and the 1986 'Vikram' or Lokesh's 'Kaithi' might be the part 1 of the franchise.
Meanwhile, a fan theory suggests that Kamal is reprising his role from the 1986 Vikram and Suriya might be seen as the head of the Adaikalam gang in 'Kaithi', which means the 2022 'Vikram' is a sequel to both the films. Going by Kamal's words, it is safe to assume that Lokesh Kanagaraj's cinematic universe is real.
When asked whether the 2022 Vikram has anything to do with the 1986 Vikram, Kamal revealed, "Except for one incident, the rest is not there. The incident is that I made a story for the first 'Vikram' which they thought was too maverick and it didn't have enough songs and it sort of moved in a mysterious way. Not a predictable film. When he (Lokesh) came back and said he wanted to do something like that (1986 Vikram), not necessarily in that genre but that kind of action, I just casually told him about this idea. So, he's taken the idea in his own style of direction. It is very Quentin Tarantino-ish style."
