Kamal Haasan's 1996 blockbuster 'Indian' not only made loads of money in all Indian languages but also won critical acclaim and scooped awards. The film directed by Shankar had Kamal, Suganya, Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar and Gowndamani in pivotal roles.
A few months back 'Indian 2' was announced with Kamal and Shankar joined by Kajal Agarwal and Anirudh and bankrolled by Lyca Productions. Due to various reasons including Kamal's tight schedule as a politician has caused many postponements in the shooting plans of the film. For the past few weeks rumours have been floating in Kollywood that the mega project has been dropped.
Media reports are pointing out the latest election campaign video that Kamal has released in which he has said emotionally that he quit the one passion that he had (movies) and came to politics. Kamal's words have been construed by the media as a strong hint that 'Indian 2' is dropped. Other reports suggest that Shankar is trying to pitch the project to Bollywood production houses and is keen to start shooting a few weeks after the Lok Sabha Election results which will come on May 23rd. We will have to wait for official confirmations on this one.
