As per Makkal Needhi Maiam sources it has been said that the president of the party, legendary actor Kamal Haasan might be contesting the upcoming assembly elections from any of the following four assembly constituencies – Mylapore, Alandur, T. Nagar and Velachery.

It has also been said strongly that Kamal Haasan might be choosing Alandur constituency to establish his claim on the political legacy of former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran who had contested from Parangimalai Assembly constituency.

Makkal needhi maiam office-bearers in Alandur have requested voters to register their support to Kamal Haasan as a candidate by calling a phone number. It must be noted that Makkal needhi maiam got more than 22,000 votes in the Alandur assembly and 1.3 lakh votes in the Sriperumbudur Parliamentary constituency when they contested elections.
