The citizenship amendment bill which was recently passed, has been drawing lots of opposition, and people from all over the country have been involved in protests against the bill. Students of Jamia Millia university who were involved in protests were violently attacked by police force.
With various protests planned across the nation, and with several stars and celebrities, besides political parties like DMK opposing the bill, Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam party has now filed a case in the Supreme court against the citizenship amendment act, and has made a request to consider this as an urgent case and arrange the hearing early.
"Why are Tamils who are subjected to a methodic genocide and Muslims facing discrimination, be excluded from the bill? If it’s a genuinely benevolent bill and not a vote garnering exercise, then why won’t this CAB stop to pick up stranded Tamils & troubled Muslims of Srilanka?" - This was the tweet Kamal Haasan had made on CAB, before few days.
