Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan announced on Saturday that he is contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “I will definitely contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” he confirmed at an executive meeting of the party.
With the poll politics now heating, and parties forging and breaking alliances, Kamal Haasan said that his party is willing to form a single-minded alliance in the parliamentary elections. He added that the party had authorized him to take decisions on alliance issues. However, a decision hasn’t been made on any alliance with respect to the local body elections, apparently.
He also said that he would not associate with parties that want to change Tamil Nadu’s DNA. When asked if that would rule out BJP, he said, “I cannot say something to make headlines better. It is your opinion.” However, he added that “In five states, BJP has been ruled out.”
The veteran actor launched his party Makkal Needhi Maiam (People’s Justice Centre) in February this year.
