Kamal Haasan starts battle in court today to protect public from police brutality

The Jeyaraj -Bennicks double murder at the hands of the Sathankulam police has received widespread awareness about the looming threat to the civilians at the hands of the so called guardians. The father son duo were booked for a petty case for allegedly violating the lockdown rules by keeping their cellphone shop open after stipulated time. According to eyewitness constable Revathi the men were beaten up continuously overnight and were profusely bleeding when shifted to a hospital where they lost their lives one after the other.

The Makkal Needhi Maiam leader Kamal Haasan who was one of the first to voice his support for justice for Jeyaraj and Bennicks has gone one step further. He has written in Tamil on social media "Who is going to inquire about police disrespecting, attacking and framing false cases against the public? The Makkal Needhi Maiam is today legally taking up this battle to court today. The past and present governments that did not tend to this should be thrown out".
