Government turning students into refugees - Kamal Haasan at Madras University protest

Kamal Haasan visited Madras University in Taramani where 700 students are locked inside protesting against the central government's Citizenship Amendment Act. He was not allowed inside by the police and hence he spoke to them from the gate and passed his thoughts on the issue to them.

Kamal speaking to newsmen later slammed the state and central government accusing them of turning students into refugees and added I am not allowed to go inside. Till I die, I will call myself a student, I have come here in that capacity to be their defender. I will keep voicing whether or not I have started a party and now that I have started it becomes my duty to be here. The latest development is that the Makkal Neethi Maiam is joining hands with the DMK in fighting the CAA issue.
