Kamal Haasan the legendary actor turned politician floated his political party Makkal Needhi Maiam in 2018 and contested for the first time in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2021. He and his entire party lost in all the seats and of course it's common knowledge that the DMK is now in power with M.K. Stalin as the chief minister.
Some of the Makkal Needhi Maiam members including vice president R. Mahendran quit the party and Kamal's critics are predicting that he will soon quit politics as well. However the Ulaganayagan seems to be very much in the fray and he has already started his questioning of the ruling parties on various issues and also offering suggestions.
Kamal's latest tweet is a direct attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has written in Tamil that the rupees 20,000 Crores allotted for the Namami Gange project is a waste since bodies of coronavirus patients are floating in the river now.
Kamal has added that the government has failed in protecting the people as well as cleaning the river. The Namami Gange Programme’, is an Integrated Conservation Mission, approved as ‘Flagship Programme’ by the Union Government in June 2014 with a budget outlay of Rs.20,000 Crore to accomplish the twin objectives of effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of National River Ganga.
