In an unexpected turn of events, yesterday during the shoot of Indian 2, a crane accident lead to the death of three unit members Shri Krishna, Madhu and Chandran, and many crew members were injured and are getting treatment. Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal and Shankar had a narrow escape from death.
Kamal Haasan met the press today after visiting the hospital and meeting the families of the deceased and announced financial assistance of 1 crore for the families of those who died. The actor said that this is just a first aid to help the family to sustain this crisis period, and the real treatment will be to ensure no such incidents happen again and to ensure safety, insurance for every technician in the industry.
Kamal Haasan also urged the entire industry to come together to take up this as a responsibility, and that this is not just a request. The actor said that no safety compliance is followed in any field, and since this is a high profile industry it gets highlighted. Kamal said that the accident does not choose people, it could be anybody, and it could have been himself, as he was also in the tent where the crane fell. Kamal yet again said that technicians in every level of the industry must get safety ensured.
