Kamal Haasan on Thursday said that digital cinema has changed the face of entertainment industry and is wholeheartedly embraced. He said that technology has ensured many platforms for filmmakers and has facilitated monetization ensuring versatility.
Speaking at the third Media and Entertainment Business Conclave (MEBC) themed Embracing the Digital World organized by Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in Chennai, Kamal said there is no escape from acquiring and adopting to changing technology.
The ace actor, who is the chairman of the conclave, also expressed his concern on piracy. Those buying pirated movie DVDs were indirectly funding terrorism as most DVDs were made in Pakistan, he said and urged for a strict stand against piracy.
Inaugurating the event earlier, Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah said films have an important place in the minds and hearts of south Indians and the South Indian film industry is a key contributing factor to the Indian cinema.
He said that films and television have become popular mode of entertainment and the South Indian film industry was vast in terms of productions, growth, talent and creative ideas.
