Kamals emotional memories of his sister Sridevi

Starting form 'Moondru Mudichi' (1976) Kamal and Sridevi acted mostly as a pair in 27 films and are considered as one of the hottest pairs ever in Tamil and even Indian cinema.  Elders recall that any couple who look made for each other were compared to Kamal-Sridevi.

The Ulaganayagan in his column in a leading Tamil weekly has surprised many by stating that he always considered the departed lady superstar as his sister. The duo however could not reveal that they bonded as siblings because the producers and directors advised them that it could affect their market.  After two or three films Kamal had felt enough of having Sridevi as his pair and feels she might also have had the same opinion but the filmmakers and audiences were never tired of watching them as lovers on screen.

Kamal shares that the last time he saw Sridevi was at her house in a function and he noticed her treating her grown up as a child and petting her which reminded him of Sridevi's mother doing the same to her.  The Makkal Neethi Maiam leader emotionally quotes Kannadasan's lines written for Sridevi in the song "Kanne Kalaimane" which goes "Nee Illamal Ethu Nimmathi...Neethan Endrum En sannidhi". (Without you there is no peace..you will always remain my shrine".)
