The Income Tax sleuths' raids on as many as 40 premises of the controversial godman Kalki Bhagavan came to an end on Friday evening. The raids went on for almost three days in different locations across Chennai, Bengaluru and Varadaiahpalem in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor.
About Rs 93 Cr was reportedly found at his ashram. More importantly, unaccounted cash receipts to the tune of Rs 409 Cr starting from 2014-15 onwards were unearthed during the raids.
Foreign currencies worth Rs 18 Cr, undisclosed gold worth R 26 Cr and about diamonds worth Rs 5 Cr were also found.
Before becoming a godman in 1980s, Kalki was a clerk at Life Insurance Corporation.
