Nag Ashwin’s futuristic film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has been generating excitement since its announcement. Today, the creators unveiled a new poster featuring Amitabh Bachchan, piquing everyone’s interest. The highly anticipated sci-fi movie will also star Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani in prominent roles. Adding to the excitement, the makers dropped a glimpse of Amitabh Bachchan’s mysterious look from Nag Ashwin’s magnum opus.
The captivating 21-second teaser opens with Bachchan, dressed in earthy tones, deep in prayer within a cave, his reverence directed towards a Shiva linga. Accompanied by serene music, a child’s voice breaks the silence, asking him, “Can you not die? Are you divine? Who are you?” As tension mounts, Bachchan’s powerful voice declares, “Since time immemorial, I have awaited the arrival of the Avatar. I am the son of Guru Drona. I am Ashwatthama,” firmly establishing his identity.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) earlier, Bachchan shared, “This experience has been unlike any other. The creativity to conceive such a project, its execution, the embrace of modern technology, and most importantly, the collaboration with colleagues of such stellar stature.”
The grand unveiling took place on Star Sports just before the start of Sunday evening’s IPL 2024 match between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans. Earlier, the production team had teased the event with an announcement poster, portraying Bachchan veiled in mystery, clad in cloth and mask, seated within a temple-like structure.
Months ago, Ashwin had teased intriguing details about the epic science-fiction saga, promising that "Kalki 2898 AD" would be a visual extravaganza. Speaking at the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon, Ashwin remarked, “I only wish we had more technological advancements at our disposal during preproduction, three or four years ago. We are crafting this new universe... I'm just looking at this image on the screen right now, envisioning the myriad worlds we are endeavoring to create, collaborating with numerous concept artists, providing guidance in a personal, one-on-one manner, and constructing this expansive realm.”
Bankrolled by C Aswani Dutt under the esteemed banner of Vyjayanthi Movies, the musical score of "Kalki" is being composed by the maestro Santhosh Narayanan.
