"Kalki 2898 AD," starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, might have missed the mark for the biggest Hindi opener of 2024, falling short of "Fighter's" 24.60 crore debut. However, Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic still garnered a strong 22.50 crore on its opening day in Hindi.
The film's momentum continued on Friday, with early trends indicating minimal drop despite being a working day. This bodes well for "Kalki 2898 AD," echoing the success of "Baahubali 2," which also witnessed a similar trend and ultimately became the biggest dubbed Hindi film in the North.
Estimates for day 2 box office collection in Hindi range between 20-22 crore, potentially propelling the film towards a 50 crore mark within the first two days. With the extended weekend, "Kalki 2898 AD" is poised for an easy 100 crore collection in four days if its current pace is maintained.
Outpacing "Salaar" in Hindi, "Kalki 2898 AD" is projected to earn twice the first weekend earnings of Prabhas' previous film. While "Salaar" closed at around 50 crore in Hindi, it also saw a minimal drop on day 2, earning 15.50 crore on day 1 followed by 16 crore on day 2.
"Kalki 2898 AD" achieved a total of â¹54 crore in India (net) on its opening day, as per early estimates from Sacnilk. The movie performed exceptionally well across languages, earning an estimated â¹95.3 cr India net. On day 2, the movie raked in an estimated â¹25.64 crore in Telugu, â¹3.5 crore in Tamil, â¹22.5 crore in Hindi, â¹0.35 crore in Kannada, and â¹2 crore in Malayalam, bringing its total domestic box office collection to â¹149 crore for the two days.
The movie's strong performance is reflected in its theatre occupancy. On Friday, "Kalki 2898 AD" held an overall 31.72% occupancy in Hindi theatres, while dominating Telugu cinemas with an impressive 65.02% occupancy. Tamil occupancy stood at 31.15% on Friday.
