Balaji Tharanitheeran made a huge splash with his low budget film ‘Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom’ that helped catapult Vijay Sethupathi to fame. His second film ‘Oru Pakka Kathai’ was announced with much fanfare as it introduced Kalidas Jayaram to Tamil cinema and the film, though completed many months earlier is facing undue delay in releasing.
K. S. Srinivasan the producer of ‘Oru Pakka Kathai’ has revealed that the regional censor board after many delays in viewing the film certified it U/A but the team felt that it deserved a U since the youth need to watch the film that deals with medical complications of pregnancy at a young age. When Vaasan Visual Ventures appealed to the revising committee they lauded the film and suggested a few cuts which the makers agreed upon.
Now the censor board is adamant that the word "intercourse" used by the heroine when explaining her medical condition to a doctor in a scene should be removed. Balaji Tharanitharan is perplexed why the board is refusing to certify ‘Oru Pakka Kathai’ even after the revising committee okayed it. It is believed that the head office in Mumbai has to approve the unholy word before this small budget film can see the light of the day.
