National repute director T.S.Nagabharana has taken up his first historical film that dates back to the regime of 'Madakari Nayaka' the ruler of Chitradurga district. It was the Palegara dynasty (1568 to 1779) before the Hyder Ali conquered this area. To this historical development director T.S.Nagabharana adds the Hindu and Muslim love angle. Music is another major element of this film that takes us to two centuries behind.

'Kallarali Hoovagi' is a novel written by B.L.Venu and for this director Bharana has added a few commercial elements to suit the present day audience. Human values, emotions, action and highlight of rich culture and heritage of Karnataka are the other valuable points in this film.

Chitradurga the land of rocks is the cynosure for the director to make this film. Nearly 35 days the film shooting was held in Chitradurga fort.

Ambarish the sitting member of Parliament who made a beginning in his career shooting in 'Chitradurga' in 'Nagarahavu' blockbuster Kannada film in 1972 is playing the key role of 'Madakari Nayaka'. Ambarish's wife Sumalatha plays the counterpart to him on the screen. M.P.Shanker the veteran producer is Dodda Madakari Nayaka. Vijaya Raghavendra is the wanderer youth who falls in love with Muslim girl Umashankeri. Ananthnag and Bharathi Vishnuvardhana also play important roles. Devaraj, Mukyamantri Chandru, Satyajith, Sharat Lohitashva, Ashok, Gazar Khan, Pavankuar, Santosh, Yogish, Shanthamma, Sumitra, Mahalakshmi, Moulya, Harini are also in the cast.

Hamsalekha has scored the lyrics and music. H.C.Venu is the man behind camera. Thara Rekha, Prakash, Madan Harini are the choreographers, Ram Shetty is the stunt director. Vittal is the art director.

This is a multi crore budget film at the DTS mixing stage now. This is set for release in the month of September.

Madhu Bangarappa and Anand Singh are the producers of this historical film 'Kallarali Hoovagi'.
