The Kalanamana cultural troupe is felicitating the stalwart director SK Bhagwan of ‘Dorai Bhagwan’ duo on the occasion of the duo directors ‘Jedara Bale’ completing 50 years.

The Kalanamana event is on February 25 at NR Colony Buegal Rock Park. On this occasion Dorai and Bhagwan directed films 25 songs will be sung by Ajay Warior, HK Raghu, Srinivasamurthy, KS Surekha, Nagachandrika Bhat and others. The backstage artists BH Rajakumar and Sukumara Babu will be also felicitated on this occasion.

The stalwart director Bhagwan in association with Dorai made debut in 1966 from ‘Sandhya Raaga’. Today SK Bhagwan is director of ‘Aduva Gombe’. SKBhagwan will recall the making of ‘Jedara Bale’ at his felicitation evening. It was after watching ‘Doctor No’ by Dr Rajakumar, Varadappa, Dorai and Bhagwan – the idea first came in the mind of Dorai. After going through 11 books on James Bond Dorai and Bhagwan made the film ‘Jedara Bale’ in less than 3 lakhs of rupees. It was a bumper crop in the box office. From dubbing rights Rs.2 lakh was received.

What is interesting is that on the occasion of 50th year ‘Jedara Bale’ a bond film of Bhagwan (it was released in 1968), 50th film of Bhagwan ‘Aduva Gombe’ is set for release.
