The Tamil film industry has seen no new movie releases since March 1 owing to the standoff between the producers council and the digital service providers. However, Sundar.C’s laugh riot ‘Kalakalappu 2’ and Bala’s ‘Naachiyaar’ have been capitalising on this to continue their reign at the box office.

Sundar.C’s ‘Kalakalappu 2’ which hit the screens last February 9 has raked in a profit of Rs.4,76,33,735 as of yesterday. It is expected that the film will soon touch the 5 crore milestone. Likewise Bala’s ‘Naachiyaar’ which released last February 16 has earned Rs.2,62,90,446 in profits and is heading towards the 3 crore mark.
 
Both the films sharew an average crowd presence of 60-65% and it is the general hope that new films will hit the screens after the strike ends.
